Excelente artigo de Bob Murphy, o homem que desafiou Paul Krugman para um debate.

Friedman:
"The relevant question to ask about the "assumptions" of a theory is not whether they are descriptively "realistic," for they never are, but whether they are sufficiently good approximations for the purpose in hand."

"Mises thought that the core body of economic theory could be logically deduced from the axiom of "human action," i.e., the insight or viewpoint that there are other conscious beings using their reason to achieve subjective goals."

Ou seja, von Mises olha para a economia como um prolongamento da filosofia, enquanto que Friedman levantava hipóteses e verificava se elas coincidiam com a realidade.
